Thanks for your time Arsiney, What’s good?
Nothing much I’m chilling, just staying focused on the goal and staying motivated to get there
Let the readers know who you are and what it is you do.
Well my name is Arsiney I’m an Artist/Producer/Songwriter and I am dedicated to making dope, creative, classic music. I am into making the kind of mix tapes that sound like albums and the kind of albums that sound like scores to the human life. That shit you can play from front to back
You’re in NYC, a city that never sleeps. How true is this statement when it comes to the rap game?
Well I think it is extremely true, if anything, as far as the rap game goes, everybody is sleeping on us. Me personally I feel that NYC is a city that breeds a natural strong competitive spirit. You are born in a city where its home to a melting pot of some many millions of people and so many cultures that it can kind of feel like every man for them self. Ironically I feel like that every man for them self mentality as a whole contributes to some of the reason NYC has kind of fallen of the map, but me personally I’m always focused and I’m always motivated and I never sleep on anybody or myself. The name of my new mix tape is actually called Insomnia partially because of that very reason.
How many projects have you done and where can we find them?
I have done three projects, two of them are very old and they where titled In My Shoes (Vol. 1 and 2) you MIGHT be able to find Vol.2 on Datpiff.com my most recent one is called The Trailer and you can find that mix tape at http://arsiney.blogspot.com and assorted blog sites just go to Google and type Arsiney The Trailer. I’m currently working on my new mix tape which is set for release this spring entitled Insomnia.
Where do you get your drive from?
I don’t know where I get all of my drive from. Ever since I was born I always had a mentality of “I COME FROM THIS BUT I DON’T BELONG TO THIS” I always wanted more from myself, its more than a feeling of I just like nice things, its more about a feeling of I don’t belong here and I’m uncomfortable. My mom was a hard working mother who took care of 2 kids on a VERY moderate salary and I watched her struggle sometimes and always wanted more for her. I also get my drive from my biggest fear, and my biggest fear in life is to wake up one morning and be totally un inspired, to wake up one morning and not have any sounds in my head any ides or any desire to write anything, so I always work hard as if I’m going to wake up tomorrow and have no talent at all.
How much of an impact does your environment play when it comes to the content of your music?
I think my environment just impacted me as a person, it made me stronger and helped to build very strong integrity and character. You learn things fast in the streets or you don’t get a second chance, I have a lot of morality tales being an 80’s baby born raised in Harlem. The streets taught me to always be true to me and that’s real, whatever you’re reality may be staying true to that reality is what makes you real. I don’t necessarily write about the streets or make music about the streets all the time but I ALWAYS! Write real music, I don’t know any other way.
What do you have going on right now?
Right now it’s all about my new project insomnia that will be released this spring (maybe sooner) I’m doing lots of press, lots of shows, and as a producer still trying to find a good placement with a known artist in the industry that’s looking for a new incredible sound.
Safe to say you’ve been an emcee for some time now, what changes have you gone through as an artist?
As an artist I have just learned to become more comfortable with my voice and realize that it is an instrument. Whether you rap or sing you’re voice is an instrument and being comfortable with that fact and not being afraid of how you sound but learning how to play with your sound, it will help you to become a better artist. I have also learned to not limit my talent and abilities as an artist and always try things before I say I can’t do it.
Where can we catch you next?
