Krystele Guy — aka Lady Bishop — grew up in Trinidad W.I before she and her family eventually settled in Brooklyn, New York. Once there she didn’t have an easy start, but her mother kept the family afloat. Academically Lady Bishop was always a good student who often found herself finishing fights picked by others. Even at a young age her teachers knew her talent was writing and performing. Aside from being in every possible school play, she was often caught writing poems. One day a school security guard reading what she called poems conceived them as songs, a way to keep her out of trouble, he introduced her to a group of Hip-Hop rap freestylers and the rest is history.
Since then Lady Bishop has performed in various clubs, released 3 albums, countless amounts of singles, featured on hundreds of Mix-Tapes across the world, featured with various artists and is known for hosting various music/fashion/upscale events. Lady Bishop was the first Female Rapper to Star in the Castillo Theater Off-Broadway Play “Hip-Hop Cabaret” in 2001 and nominated Best Female Rapper for the Underground Music Awards in 2006. She’s also been interviewed in various magazines like the national Source Magazines and interviewed by internet and top radio host on mainstream radio stations (like N.Y.C Hot 97′s DJ Kay Slay). Lady Bishop has also been featured on some of Hop-Hop’s top websites (like AllHipHop.com) and social networks.When asked about Lady Bishop, most may say “I know her she’s a rapper from Brooklyn, NY”. What many may not know is Lady Bishop was once awarded for her Community Leadership along side Hip-Hop great DJ Red Alert, actor Malik Yoba and news anchor Diana Taylor. She takes pride in serving the community and is also an advocate for pets. She’s a National Spokesperson for the Urban Animal Alliance, along with other artist, athletes, entertainers an ordinary citizen, working together to bring awareness to animal cruelty.
Currently Lady Bishop is the Founder of Triple A for NYC Pets and the President of Grynd Mobb Music Group. February 2012 Lady Bishop released her much anticipated album “868″ (Hip Hop meets Dancehall). This album is Hip Hop at it’s best, yet it includes some tracks with a reggae twist. “868″ (Hip Hop meets Dancehall) follows her previous album “M3″(Music Money & Me) re-released, June 2009 (available on iTunes).
