Introduce yourself to our readers

Well we’re a rap trio that goes by the name Ivy League Alumni, but most people call us & our team “The League”. We’re artists, yes, but most importantly we’re entertainers. The three off us all have different sounds & approaches to music & that seems to be what draws most people to us. You get a little bit of everything on every single record we put out & that is what sets us apart from anyone or anything that’s out in the market today.

Where do you currently reside?

We currently reside in Nassau County, Long Island. Big ups to L.I. by the way. There’s a shortage of artists reppin’ the Island but its cool, we’ll put the whole Island on our backs lol.

How long have been a group?

We’ve all been rapping for as long as we can remember but we’ve been together for about 4 years now.

Who influenced you and why?

Well let us start by saying the people who influence our music the most is our fans. We love you guys & we’re always trying to grow & evolve as musicians so that we can continue to give yall great music & keep you guys down with The League. As far as being influenced by other artists, yeah we have a bunch of those too. Individually we have tons of different artists who influenced our individual styles but in terms of that group dynamic & learning how to feed off of each other’s talents & being unselfish we’d say we’ve learned the most from groups like Run DMC, Outkast, Slaughterhouse & even G-Unit. We’ve all looked to them to learn how to have incredibly talented individuals co-exist as a group.

Talk about winning Get Your Buzz Up and the overall experience?

It was awesome. We actually signed up to do the show the day before the actual event so it was a crazy 24 hours for us. We had to scramble to get everything that we needed to participate in the show & then we had to go out there & perform so the fact that we actually took home the grand prize was insane. When Hatch went up to announce the top 3 acts we were nervous wrecks. We knew we had a good shot at winning but at the same time we were last minute entries & some of those other acts were pretty dope. When he announced 3rd & 2nd place & it wasn’t us we didn’t know what to think, it either meant that we didn’t place in the top 3 at all or that we won. Then to hear “In first place….Wow!!!!” Man that was it, we went nuts. Now its just time that we capitalize on the opportunities that we now have. We’re very grateful.

How are you using the exposure to benefit your movement?

In every way we can. We are lucky to have been given this opportunity so we’re using all of these interviews & videos & all of the other promotional tools that we won to expand our fan base & get our music & our message out to more people. We’re a fun group with great music & we’re glad that we can show that to the world.

Describe your stage show to those who are new to your name?

Its fun. That’s really what we want everybody to take away from our shows. If you guys came out to see us live then we’re assuming you already know & like our music so our shows are about much more than just performing our songs. We want the audience to go home after one of the best & most entertaining shows they’ve ever seen. We work hard to make sure that if you’re coming to see us in action that it is well worth it. We want you entertained whether it’s a one song set or an entire concert.

Whats up next?

Miami! We’re trying to get our EP & everything else in order while we prepare for the next iStandard show we’re doing out in Miami. If you’re in South Beach mid February you gotta come check us out.

Where can we find you online?

You can find us on facebook, twitter, myspace, reverb nation & youtube, all at /theleague_music

Any last words?

Umm, we appreciate your time & just keep an ear open for us. We have a lot of good things that we’re working on & we can promise you that this isn’t the last you’ve heard from Ivy League Alumni.
