What’s the deal “Mid West King”? Thank you for your time. Everybody seems to want a piece of you as of late, does your boom in success intimidate you at all? How do you stay focused?
I’m honored to do these interviews so it’s not a prob. I can’t get intimidated for something I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Hard work and a great nucleus around me baby!!lol
What sets you apart from other entertainers?
Well um I think I entertain while giving you all of me in my music I don’t compromise my art to entertain I think fans find me being true to myself very entertaining. Then swag plays a big part then like Jay say’s “you can pay for school but you can’t buy class”.
On a daily basis, about how many hours do you spend perfecting your craft?
I honestly couldn’t tell you how many but over the past 9 years I have dedicated my life to becoming the greatest rapper of generation next. If all my hours was clocked in I’d probably be top 5 for sure.lol
Give us a few of your influences.
Man the usual suspects Biggie Pac Nas Snoop Jay-Z easy.
1995 Hip-Hop vs 2010 Hip-Hop, a far leap! In your opinion, whats more important when it comes to todays state of Hip-Hop music, lyrical content, track selection or both?
Back then it was more about the words now it’s more about the track and the hook. I think to truly embody what a true MC is you have to have all the elements intact great lyrics memorable hooks amazing tracks and infinite flows with a great delivery. A lot of music nowadays lack these elements so as a result a large amount of the music made in this era will not last beyond a few months. Where the hip hop that was made in 95 is still relevant.
I read that you write, compose and produce music, a one man army! Explain to the readers how important it is now a days to be multi talanted when pursing a career in the music business.
Its absolutely imperative to be multi dimensional now if you don’t have the vision and talent and business sense to go with that product you are wasting your time. They call it the music business because you need both great music and great business is the key to it all no matter what level you are shooting for with your craft.
You’re everywhere! Holding down magazine columns and being the very first rapper to do so, on countless mixtapes, over 10 weeks on the Billboard music chart. So, I’ll see you at the MTV music awards next year right?
Lol! I definitely plan on it.lol it’s been an amazing year and I think 2011 is going to really be my coming out party.
Congrats on all of your success so far, whats next for “The Mid West King”?
I’m completing the “I Am King 2” Album right now and just grinding.
